Lorien joins us from his previous role in private physiotherapy practice and as a retired professional ballet dancer. He trained at the prestigious Royal Ballet School from the ages of eleven to eighteen. After graduating he spent the next fifteen years travelling the world performing with companies such as the Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, K-Ballet and finished his career dancing as a Principal with the English Youth Ballet.
Having been inspired by the great physiotherapists he worked with, he chose to apply the physical knowledge and keen eye for movement that he developed during his ballet career and retrain as a physiotherapist. Lorien began his physiotherapy career in private practice with the aim of using his training and experience to help dancers and athletes. During his time with his previous employer he gained experience diagnosing and managing a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries. Lorien continues to expand his existing knowledge though a variety of post-graduate courses. He maintains his connection to the dance world as both a ballet teacher and as the resident physiotherapist for the Alexander Whitley Dance Company. Lorien has been teaching Pilates for many years and recently completed the training for the Polestar Comprehensive Course. He also provides physiotherapy informed strength and conditioning for dancers and teaches a weekly open ballet class at Central School of Ballet on a Monday evening.
