QUALIFICATIONS: Chartered Physiotherapist, HPC & CSP Member
Sophie is a highly specialised women’s health and musculoskeletal physiotherapist who qualified with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2008. She has gained broad experience over the last 9 years in the NHS and private sector.
Sophie specialised in women’s health and musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 2012 and enjoys working in these two specialisms which compliment each other. She is skilled in the treatment of pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain, spinal pain and postnatal and menopausal gynaecological problems.
Sophie is a ‘Mummy MOT practitioner’ and is passionate about helping new mums regain their strength and confidence. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the association for Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP). She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Sophie quickly realised the power of Pilates in rehabilitation and became a fully certified APPI Pilates instructor. She is currently undergoing the Comprehensive Polestar UK course and teaches Pilates for the mat, reformer, cadillac and chair. Sophie is skilled in restoring functional movement patterns of the spine and pelvis, an area complimented by her acquired skills in women’s health. The combination of physiotherapy and Pilates gives her a unique appreciation of how the body moves and what is required to improve joint stability and get clients out of pain and back to full function.
Sophie is acupuncture trained through ALIED and finds acupuncture a useful adjunct in the treatment of spinal pain, sports injuries and bladder and bowel urgency.
Sophie loves to treat holistically. Last year she travelled to India to pursue her love of yoga and completed a 200 hour yoga teacher trainer course. Outside of working hours Sophie enjoys yoga, travelling and has a passion for singing!
