At Complete we see physiotherapy as a way of relieving pain, optimising physical function, and ultimately improving performance, whatever form that takes.

We specialise in treating musculoskeletal problems, involving injury to structures such as joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and nerves.  Injuries can occur due to a specific traumatic incident, such as twisting an ankle whilst playing football or dislocating a shoulder when falling off a bike.  Injury can also occur from simply putting the body under too much strain before it has developed the strength to tolerate it, for example trying to run too far too soon.

While it is more common for people to seek physiotherapy when they are injured or in pain, physiotherapists can also help with preventing injury by identifying underlying physical deficits.  By addressing these, you can reduce your risk of injury in the future, particularly if you are about to take up a new sport or type of exercise.

So, if you have any pain or injury, whether from sitting at your desk too much or due to a sporting mishap, or even if you just want to improve your physical condition and performance, we are here to help you.

What can physiotherapy help with?

What to expect?

On your first visit, you will be asked about your current problem and the impact on your life and activities. Your physiotherapist will want to know about previous injuries, your general medical heath, and your physical goals.  They will then perform a physical examination to establish what anatomical structure/s are the source of your pain, and what underlying factors might be contributing to the problem, such as weakness or biomechanical issues.  From here, your physio will discuss the findings and consider the treatment options with you to achieve your specific goals.  The treatment plan is tailored to you.  Follow-up sessions will continue the treatment process and any adjustments, based on how you present, can be made to the plan.

What forms of treatment can be offered?

  • Manual therapy: including joint mobilisations or manipulations and soft tissue techniques such as massage.
  • Exercise rehabilitation: to strengthen, mobilise, and stretch specific areas.
  • Movement analysis and correction: to improve alignment, movement patterns, reduce the load on sensitive tissues, and improve performance.
  • Acupuncture/needling: can be helpful in relieving pain and relaxing muscles.
  • Education and advice: one of the most important and effective aspects of rehabilitation is to understand more about the problem and the best ways to facilitate and take part in your own recovery.  You will be given a clear explanation of the diagnosis and any other underlying causes, and we will discuss what is required to address these issues and reach your goals.
  • Cycle clinic: if you have problems specifically related to cycling, this is the place for you.
  • Ultrasound Guided Injections: these can be very useful if pain is not settling down in a timely fashion by using other means, and where it is interfering with your ability to undertake your specific rehabilitation exercise.

Cannot recommend Dan Boyd enough - I did the clinical bike fit with Dan having had problems knee pain whilst cycling. It's absolutely fantastic to have diagnostic testing from a qualified physio as well as someone to look over your riding position to know you've covered all bases. Dan is really knowledgeable, having worked with a series of competitive riders, and they have a great turbotrainer and camera setup at the practice. He also really goes the extra mile and has been following up with me ever since as part of the clinical bikefit package to ensure I continue my recovery. If you have any issues from riding I wouldn't hesitate to book yourself in with Dan

I suffer from chronic back pain and the physiotherapist knew exactly where to massage to relieve the pain. She also sent me a video afterwards to show how to do few exercises.

I had an ultrasound guided cortisone injection by Dave Baker. I received extensive information about the procedure and felt in good hands at all times. The injection was surprisingly painless and it started to have effect after few days. Can recommend Complete Physio to anyone needing ultrasound diagnosis or guided injections. Thanks you Dave!
