Paul Martelletti is a Run Fast and Team GB athlete who you may best know as the Officially Amazing Spiderman from the Virgin London Marathon this year where he became the current world record holder for fastest marathon dressed as a superhero at 2:29:57! One week prior to the London Marathon, Martelletti finished first in the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon and one week before that he finished first in the Hillingdon Half Marathon. So far in 2015, Martelletti has had seven first-place finishes in half marathons and one marathon. We can’t help but wonder if he really is a superhero.

Mertelletti is a regular competitor in races from 800m to 100km and can often be seen leading the pack in park runs around the UK and abroad. If you want to keep in touch with him, check out his blog at paulmartelletti.blogspot.com or follow him on Twitter @marders.

Our physiotherapist, Scott Newton and the team at Complete Physio, are lucky to be able to keep up with Martelletti and help him stay on his feet. As an avid runner himself, Scott Newton is your best bet if you have a running injury. While he works with a wide variety of sports, he has a special interest in running and a perspective that truly helps the runners that he sees.

We want to share the review Martelletti left on Trustpilot for Scott and the Complete Physio team:

Excellent knowledge and very thorough

As a competitive runner (2:16 marathon pb, Team GB 100km), I’ve seen a number of physios over the years and Scott is the most knowledgeable and thorough physio I’ve seen yet. The initial assessment was very thorough and from day one we had a plan to alleviate the immediate issues whilst also getting to the root cause by identifying any weaknesses or imbalances that could be contributing.

Scott is a very good runner himself so he appreciates what we put our bodies through and also the importance we place on running. The last thing I want to be told is to stop running but I know that if it gets to the point that Scott is telling me this then I should probably listen! Scott’s anatomical knowledge is excellent (as is his patience) and he has had to put up with many questions from me as I try to understand what is going on. Scott is not afraid to try different approaches in order to fix things either. Sometimes these yield no real change but I would rather be thorough and try a few things that don’t work in order to find something that does.

A real plus is the onsite gym where you are actually shown how to complete any exercises correctly and I find this extremely useful when it comes to using the gym equipment. There are also other team members at hand who are more than happy to give a second opinion or provide some of their own expertise. In my case, both Chris and Dave have been very helpful with ultrasound scanning and adding valuable input with variations to help diagnosis and treatment.

Earlier this year I went from running some brilliant races to a period of some very painful running and not so brilliant race performances, to winning the Manchester marathon in 2:17. Without the expertise and help from Scott and the team at Complete Physio, I would have struggled to make the start line.

Scott Newton has a special interest in the management of running-related injuries and has recently worked as part of a multi-disciplinary Sports Medicine Clinic at a large teaching hospital, where he established a Physiotherapy Running Gait Clinic. Scott has experience of working with a wide variety of sports, which includes the England Blind Cricket Team, Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey Team and national level mixed martial arts and Thai boxing competitors.

Scott is a keen distance runner with a marathon personal best of 2 hours 45 minutes. Prior to running, Scott competed at a national level in field hockey and Muay Thai where he held the WAKO Pro Super Featherweight north-west area title.
