RUNNING CLINIC

The running clinic, led by Jonathan Codling, aims to progress all runners not only in the form of speed and personal bests but, to improve each runner to become more resilient to injuries. Jonathan’s aim is to help educate and reduce the risk of injury in each runner whilst helping them progress towards their running goals.

Jonathan is an experienced physiotherapist with a background in elite sport and strength and conditioning. He has worked with runners of all abilities from beginners on their first venture towards a 5km to elite track and marathon runners.

Jonathan played hockey to international level and therefore prefers the shorter distances, with a 5km personal best of 16:24. Now enjoying retirement from elite sport and rehabilitating a few long term injuries, a personal best attempt in the marathon is looming. Having personally experienced many common running injuries, he understands the struggles of staying injury free, maintaining training loads and peaking for events or races.

THE RUNNING CLINIC OFFERS A 2 SESSION RETURN TO RUNNING PACKAGE:

PACKAGE 1. Session 1 (60 minutes £150)

  • Evaluation of training history and training loads
  • Review of wearable data metrics
  • Establishing running goals and targets
  • Assessment of current running injury and appropriate management and referral (if required, MRI, US, Sports Dr)
  • Full clinical assessment
  • Treadmill based assessment of running technique/form
  • Full lower limb strength testing

What you will leave the session with:

  • Overview of acute vs chronic training loads
  • Overview of risk factors from strength testing
  • Running technique/form recommendations (cues and drills)
  • Strength and Conditioning Programme

PACKAGE 2. Session 2 (60mins £150)

  • Review of previous running data, running guidance and strength programme
  • Performance based testing of strength and power (peak force, counter movement jumps, RSI) …these are the important factors to improving your running!
  • Treadmill based assessment of running technique/form

What you will leave the session with:

  • Overview of training loads and plan
  • Updated strength and conditioning plan plus plyometric and power based exercises
  • Updated running plan
