Insurance Accreditation and Expertise

Complete Physio has been accredited by all major health insurance companies, including BUPA, AXA, WPA, and Healix, for over a decade and a half.

All of our physiotherapists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)  and are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP), and and have a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience; in fact, most of our physios have well over 10 years of experience within their fields of expertise.

This guarantees that you will receive the highest standard of care and expertise in physiotherapy.

Utilising your private health insurance at Complete Physio is very straightforward, whether you’re covered by BUPA, AXA, WPA or Healix, and we will do our best to support you through the process, to ensure it is as stress-free as possible.

Here’s our guide to help you:

1. Preparing for Your Appointment:

Confirm Eligibility

Before scheduling your physiotherapy session you will first need to contact your insurance company to verify that your insurance policy includes physiotherapy treatments.

Get a Referral

Some insurers require a referral from a GP or specialist before approving physiotherapy sessions. You can either get a referral from your NHS GP or you can pay for a private GP appointment if you would prefer.

Booking Your Appointment at Complete Physio

On booking your appointment you will need to provide us with the following information prior to your appointment:

  • The name of your insurer
  • Policy number
  • Authorisation code – If you require treatment for multiple body parts you will need an authorisation code for each body part
  • How many sessions you have been approved for, or what your total allowance for physiotherapy treatment is.
  • What your total excess amount is and who it needs to be paid to.

This information ensures a smooth booking process and facilitates timely access to care.

2. Essential Information for Insurance Claims

Your insurance company will need some information from you including a code for your treatment. To make things simpler, we’ve compiled essential clinic codes for major insurers, including BUPA and AXA to streamline your insurance claims process.

For WPA, Healix or any other insurance companies, simply reach out to our reception team, and we’ll provide you with the necessary physiotherapist registration numbers.

Even if you’re covered by a smaller insurance company, rest assured that you can still access treatment at Complete Physio. While we may not have specific registration numbers, all our physiotherapists are accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP), allowing you to self-pay and claim reimbursement.

For information on insurance codes please see individual insurance pages:

  • AXA
  • BUPA
  • All Other Insurance Companies

3. Understanding Your Insurance Policy

Health Insurance Excess:

Most policies have an outpatient annual excess; this is the amount you’re responsible for before your insurer contributes to the costs. Sometimes it’s called a cost share or member’s contribution. Excesses are approx £100-150 but can be more or less depending on your specific policy.

Your insurance provider should be able to provide you with this information when you activate your request for treatment. Due to Data Protection, Complete Physio is unable to request this on your behalf and is currently not made aware of this information prior to your treatment.

Once we have received notification of the excess amount, we will issue an invoice to you with a convenient online payment option.

Other Important Information Regarding Your Policy:

There could be some caveats on the number of treatments you are allowed, or certain treatments or services that may not be included in your policy, such as shockwave therapy, guided injections or diagnostic ultrasound. They are also unlikely to cover equipment such as crutches, braces, boots, slings, splints etc.

Our team is here to help you navigate these details and ensure clarity regarding your coverage; please contact our practice manager, Clare Chadney at clare@complete-physio.co.uk or call 020 7482 3875.

4. Billing Process and Your Responsibilities:

Complete Physiotherapy promptly invoices your insurance company within 24 hours of your appointment. However, it’s essential to note that payment processing may take several weeks.

Please note as per your terms and conditions with your health insurance company and Complete Physio, ultimately you are responsible for funding your treatment if there is any shortfall in your insurance, incorrect or out of date authorisation codes are provided or if you go over your allocated sessions.
