QUALIFICATIONS: Chartered Physiotherapist / HCPC & CSP Registered / MSc Physiotherapy / BSc Health Psychology
Sophie graduated with an MSc in Physiotherapy from Brunel University. Her career began in the NHS, gaining a wide range of experience treating patients from the general population through to high-level athletes. This exposed her to a variety of conditions across different specialities, including orthopaedics, sports injuries, neurology, and cardiorespiratory. She then moved on to work full-time in private practice as a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist, alongside teaching Clinical Pilates.
Sophie has a special interest in spinal conditions, chronic musculoskeletal conditions and persistent pain presentations. She is equally adept at acute sports injury rehabilitation and prevention; treating shoulder pain, instability and dysfunction; and post-operative rehabilitation. Sophie also works as a Clinical Pilates Instructor at Complete Pilates.
Treatment approaches include spinal and joint mobilisations, dry needling, soft tissues techniques and exercise prescription. Her programmes are individualised, working in collaboration with patients to achieve their goals.
With a prior degree in Health Psychology and experience working in the mental health field, she appreciates the importance of mental well-being in physical rehabilitation, and vice versa. This dual qualification combines well in her treatment of chronic and persistent pain presentations, as she incorporates a holistic approach to patient management.
Sophie has previously competed in lacrosse and netball at a high level. Whilst her competitive sport days are behind her, she tries to keep fit and active with running, functional strength training and Pilates.
